What is the purpose of the Henderson 215 Project?

The purpose of the Henderson 215 Project is to reduce travel delay, improve regional connectivity, and improve safety by reducing crash rates and replacing deteriorated infrastructure.
Why is the Henderson 215 Project needed?

Clark County and the City of Henderson have experienced significant population growth over the last decade. Between 2010 and 2020, Clark County’s population grew by more than 300,000 residents (an increase of about 20 percent) and the City of Henderson’s population grew by more than 60,000 residents, an increase of about 25 percent (U.S. Census Bureau 2010 and 2020). The regional population is projected to continue to grow. This segment of I-215 currently experiences congestion due to the regional population growth, which has increased current traffic volumes that exceed the roadway’s capacity.

What is a diverging diamond interchange?

Diverging diamond interchanges are often used at intersections located beneath or above freeway bridges. At a diverging diamond interchange, traffic briefly crosses over to the left (opposite) side of the roadway, safely guided by traffic signals at each crossover. This allows vehicles to turn left onto freeway on-ramps without stopping and without conflicting with through traffic.
